Rickie Traeger: Trail Camera Setup Ideas

Good morning everyone!

It is Monday.  That dreaded day that everyone hates, LOL.   Think positive though!

I have been thinking of places to setup my trail camera.   I am trying to find some really cool wildlife to capture on the trail camera.  I have been thinking about area that have had reports of exotic wildlife such as bears, mountain lions, wolves, etc…   They are rare to see in person around here.  So, I have been researching places as to where there might be potential luck to see some good wildlife. But then comes in question, even after I find an area I need to find a public land area, or ask a land owner for permission.  I think right now my best luck would be up near the stateline along the area of Meridian rd. There are a lot of open area you can see a ways, so if something crosses a field you would be able to see it pretty good.  There is another area over by Cherry Valley that has some wolves that I have been thinking about setting a trail camera for those.  I want to get it setup and going for awhile, before winter hits. I have determined that my trail camera can last approx. 3 months of a full set of batteries.  So if I set it up now, I can retrieve it around November sometime.  Which is kind of prime for these exotic animals to be traveling through our area.

On the other hand I was thinking it might be a good useful tool to try to capture some paranormal activity with it. I have been thinking of some places on public land that might have some paranormal activity.  Yes, I know trail cameras are not made for paranormal activity. But you just never know unless you give it a try.  What is the worst thing that would happen?  I would set it up and let it sit 3 months, then not capture anything, LOL.  Heck, there are many times I have set it up and haven’t caught anything but some moving trees.  Ah yes, the dreaded moving tree captures, LOL.  Or the shadows…   So realistically it won’t hurt to put it up to try to capture paranormal activity.

So the question  now is, What do you think I should set it up for: Wildlife or paranormal activity?
Whatever has the most votes, I will do that. I will leave this decision in your hands and you tell me. Wildlife or paranormal?

Wish me luck!

Rickie Traeger: Misc Flight Simulator blog

Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is doing well!

I was able to get the new Flight Simulator game to finally run!   Holy cow talk about a resource hog 🙁    But I will say the graphics are nice and there are a lot of neat features. I love the live features. Live traffic, live weather, etc…

I am actually just starting a flight as we speak, of a live flight.  It is from KRFD to Oakland, CA.  The game grabs actual real life flight data, and you can fly the same flight!  I normally like to fly the Cessna 172. But obviously, the Cessna 172 is not going to make that trip. So, I am going to try flying the Boeing 787.  This will be fun.

There are a few things that I want to complain about though.  Some of my visual reference points to fly into KRFD, have been taken out of the game 🙁    And also when you crash, it does not show the crash anymore.  And the whole resource hog issue and crashes alot.  But overall I like it. I think if it didnt take up so much resources and the game didn’t crash so much.

Here is a screenshot I found online. So you can see just how amazing the graphics are!

So here I was thinking summer was slipping away from us. But the next few days are going to be mid 90’s 🙂   Heck yeah I am excited!   What we really need though is a good thunderstorm.  We had a little bit of rain last night. But nothing like how much we need. I think we are in a drought. If not, we are not far from it.  Plus a good thunderstorm would be nice 🙂

Rickie Traeger: Microsoft Flight Simulator History

Rickie Traeger

I have owned at one time or another, all the Microsoft Flight Simulator games!  This video brought back sooo many memories!  I think it is amazing how long and how far they have come with the technology as it grows. Hard to believe I have owned and played each and every one, and I still am not a pilot in real life, lol. Even though I can probably start, takeoff, fly, land, taxi  probably better than some of the real world pilots, based on my Simulator hours, LOL.

I have literally played EVERY DAY since the day it came out, Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I may have missed a few days over the years.

But I play this game religiously on a daily basis.  The game came out in 2006 and it is August 2020 now.

You tell me how many hours I have played (and still play) daily and how many years I have invested, LOL.

I thought I was like the #1 fan of the game, considering literally how many years I have invested into the game, lol.

Come to find out there are fans that are even way more into the game than I am 🙂
