Rickie Traeger: Misc Flight Simulator blog

Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is doing well!

I was able to get the new Flight Simulator game to finally run!   Holy cow talk about a resource hog 🙁    But I will say the graphics are nice and there are a lot of neat features. I love the live features. Live traffic, live weather, etc…

I am actually just starting a flight as we speak, of a live flight.  It is from KRFD to Oakland, CA.  The game grabs actual real life flight data, and you can fly the same flight!  I normally like to fly the Cessna 172. But obviously, the Cessna 172 is not going to make that trip. So, I am going to try flying the Boeing 787.  This will be fun.

There are a few things that I want to complain about though.  Some of my visual reference points to fly into KRFD, have been taken out of the game 🙁    And also when you crash, it does not show the crash anymore.  And the whole resource hog issue and crashes alot.  But overall I like it. I think if it didnt take up so much resources and the game didn’t crash so much.

Here is a screenshot I found online. So you can see just how amazing the graphics are!

So here I was thinking summer was slipping away from us. But the next few days are going to be mid 90’s 🙂   Heck yeah I am excited!   What we really need though is a good thunderstorm.  We had a little bit of rain last night. But nothing like how much we need. I think we are in a drought. If not, we are not far from it.  Plus a good thunderstorm would be nice 🙂

Rickie Traeger: A Lot of United Airline Aircraft At The Rockford Airport (KRFD) (RFD)

Rickie Traeger

Recently several United Airline aircraft have been flying into the Rockford Airport (KRFD)  and staying.

I was told they are here to be parked, since things are slow, since the Covid-19 pandemic.  And while they are here, they are being maintained at the AAR.

I went out by the airport earlier today, and saw EMBRAER EMB-550 Legacy 500 geting ready to take off on runway 1/19.  And the saw all the United Airline aircraft parked on the AAR ramp. And I also noticed they had runway 7/25 closed down. I did not see why. I just saw the X on the runway and several workers out on the field. If you get the chance, go out there and check it out. Probably a once in a lifetime thing.  🙂
