Rickie Traeger: Saturday April 18th Blog

Hopefully everyone is having a good day. Well it is 6 am as I type this, so I guess I should re-phrase that and say GOOD MORNING!

So as you know we are on the shelter in place until the end of the month.  So we are pretty much on lockdown, but they phrase it the other way to make it sound not so terrifying, lol   I just call it as it is, a lockdown. The reason why I bring this topic up right now, is because there is a topic I want to discuss in the next paragraph.

My grandma on my moms side is in the hospital.  They did an agiogram on her yesterday, and from what I understand everything went good. So that is good news! Bad news, no one is allowed to go see her. So she is going through this ordeal alone.  Yes, I understand safety first. It is just hard knowing she is alone going thru this ordeal alone, because the hospital won’t allow anyone in. Again, totally understandable.  But on our end, it sucks.

My grandma on my dads side is in a nursing home and they came out publicly yesterday that an employee there has covid-19.  So who knows who all it has spread too.

So I please ask from everyone to still keep my grandma’s in your thoughts and prayers and send them positive vibes.

I went to go to the pharmacy to grab some prescriptions for my mom yesterday. I found some masks there!  this is the first place I have saw, that has masks! I spent $40 for masks. I got 20 of them.  It was messed up, cuz they are making it mandatory for everyone to wear masks. but yet, you can’t find them anywhere!   Yesterday was the first I saw them in several months.

If you want to know which pharmacy, shoot me an email. I don’t want to post it publicly cuz I don’t want people swarming the business. Just shoot me an email.

Hope everyone has a good and safe weekend. It is about to be a windy one here!

Rickie Traeger: We All Take Life For Granted…

First and foremost, my condolences to the family and friends of the victims in the double fatal accident a bit ago in Rockford.

Please keep the family and friends and 1st responders in your thoughts and prayers.

There was a rollover accident in the 2100 block of 16th st a little bit ago.

2 people passed away and a 3rd victim was transported to a local ER.

I always hate working fatal scenes.   I can tell you every fatal scene I have ever worked over the years.

They are always heartbreaking to work.

We all go about our lives every day and do not realize or grasp the concept of how precious life really is, until it is too late.

Each and every time I work a fatal scene, it is sad. But it also reminds me of how lucky we are to be alive and to have those we love around us.

Also at the same time, I realize that some family is about to have the worst day in their life 🙁

I know doing what I do (Journalist) I have worked many fatals over the years.

And I can tell you I always dread working fatal scenes.  By far the most heartbreaking scenes to work.

This scene was a double fatal, possible triple. 2 Confirmed fatals.

Words cannot describe working a fatal scene.  My heart goes out to all those that are involved.

It is a grim reminder that we all take life for granted. The most cherished thing, and we don’t realize just how quick it can be gone.

Please take a second and hug those that you love, and tell them you love them.

And to keep all those involved in this horrific scene, in your thoughts and prayers
