Rickie Traeger: May 23rd 2020 Storm Chase

May 23rd 2020 Storm Chase

The NWS predicted some severe weather was possible for our area later in the day. I honestly did not think much of it.
Because the last time I looked at the models, it did not impress me much.
So I did not think much was going to happen in our area.  I guess I was wrong………..

Bill (KC9OJP)  started up a Winnebago County SKYWARN activation net.

(Listen to the audio below!)

I might write up a detailed article about this chase, so look forward to that later on sometime.

Below are several videos and photos.  Wish I could recover my content from my cell phone.
My cell phone got soaked and ended up being fried. So I lost all my photos and videos from the storm.
I was able to recover some, but not the good footage 🙁

Watch the videos in HD if possible

Rickie Traeger: I wanted to share a memory that involves my dad and uncle Ray

I wanted to share a memory that involves my dad and uncle Ray, that I haven’t told many people.  I still remember this like it happened yesterday.  I was sitting here and I was just thinking about this, so I figured I would blog about it.

Years ago when I was growing up my dad and uncle Ray would take us kids out to the park to go fishing all the time.  My dad and uncle Ray loved to fish. So we would go a lot as we were growing up.

One day we were out at the park and a storm was rolling in. The weather alerts were going off saying to seek shelter and all that good stuff. Well we were out at the lake fishing and didn’t see the storm right away.  A short time later these dark black clouds come rolling in.  My dad and uncle Ray said we were going to stay there and fish until the storm was right on top of us.

That is exactly what happened. We fished until the storm was pretty much on top of us. Then we all packed into the vehicle to leave.  We left the park and were headed back home.

On the way back home it was lightning and thundering pretty heavy. Pretty intense storm with a lot of rain, lightning and thunder.  We get to the area of Harlem and Alpine.  All of a sudden out of nowhere…

A BOLT OF LIGHTNING STRUCK OUR VEHICLE!

Yes, a bolt of lightning hit our vehicle!  Scared the crap out of us all, LOL. Thankfully no one was touching any metal inside the vehicle.  The lightning struck the hood/windshield are of the vehicle and did some damage.

I remember this like it happened yesterday.  And it is one of those whacky moments that I will never forget with my dad and uncle Ray.  Miss you guys. Love You!  Hope you guys are having fun up in the heavens above.

Rickie Traeger: Project Blue Book, Hire A Photographer, Winter Weather

It is officially Tuesday now.   I am super excited!  Project Blue Book is coming back on tonight!  Heck yeah!

I have to replace the bathroom fan later on today. I am so not looking forward to doing that. But I think it is going bad, so I need to replace it.  I watched some Youtube videos on how to replace them. They make it look easy.  Let me say one thing, the more a video makes something look easy, the harder it really is to do, LOL.

If you know anyone who needs a photographer.  Contact me, Will and I have some openings now available.  We can do your photoshoot and events for you!

Our work speaks for itself. So you know you will be getting the best of the best photographers when you hire us 🙂

If you want to hire us to do your photos, shoot us an email at RockfordScanner@Gmail.com

I just looked at the weather forecast. I am kind of liking it.  It is not going to be super cold. But…….. There is several inches of snow possible.   I will definitely take the snow over really cold temps, anyday!   I actually enjoy the snow. I wish it could snow in the summer time, but that is impossible.   I am just happy to see the temps will be above 0 degrees!

Alright I am going to pop off here and play some Red Dead Redemption 2.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Tuesday. Don’t forget Project Blue Book is on tonight!
