Rickie Traeger: May 11th Blog.. Jury Duty & Old Roots

Good morning everyone!
Well I dunno if it is morning or evening, because it is 12:30 am I write this up, LOL.

I been doing a lot of stuff with Rockford Scanner.  My overall goal with Rockford Scanner is to bring the scanner hobby back. That has been my goal from day one.  So I am going to re-focus on that some.  Even though the police encrypted their radios, there is still a lot to listen too. See that is the thing, many people assume since it is called “police scanners” that you can only listen to police.  That is wrong. There are a lot of stuff you can listen too.  Police that are not encrypted, fire, medical, aircraft, race cars, fm radio, ham radio, satellites, plus much more!

Guess what I get to do soon, JURY DUTY!    Yup, they called me into jury duty in the near future.  I have already looked up the dockets of all the trials on the date. And I have done stories on several of the trials. So I know a lot of information already on some of these trials. And from what information that I have been told, these people are NOT guilty. So it be interesting if they choose me, because I already know alot about several of these trials already and my opinion based on the stuff that has been told to me already, they are not guilty.   I wonder if they will let me do jury duty anyways, since I am a well known local journalist that knows a lot of stuff?  Shall be interesting to see on jury duty day! LOL

Rickie Traeger: Happy Friday, Scanner Questions…

It is Friday!!!

Sorry I did not blog yesterday. I was not feeling the best at all. So I didn’t blog.

I checked into the ARES/SKYWARN and SATURN nets last night.

I been looking for a scanner with good RX for the airband. I been trying to research online as to which one has the best audio on the airbands.  I see a few that I like, but I don’t know if I will get one.  I also came across the SDS 200 scanner while researching online. Looks like a sweet scanner, but………. there appears to be many issues with it. And it is $700!   I like to keep up to date on scanners, because thats what I enjoy.  I won’t be buying any anytime soon.  Pointless, cuz the police encryption.  Why spend a lot of money for stuff you can’t listen too…   But I do want to keep up to date on scanners, so if anyone has a question I can can help them.  Man the SDS 200 looks sweet, but man so many issues with it, and a price tag of $700….SMH

I need to research which coax has the least db loss at 200 feet, for the HF bands.  Someone said the 213, I am leaning towards the lmr-400.  I have to research some online to compare the 2 to see which one is better.

Anyone have any experience with multicouplers?  If so, I would love to hear your feedback on them.
