Rickie Traeger Blog: Missing My Dad Alot, Walking Dead, Late Night Blog

Tonight is a late night blog. I thought I would wait and write a bit at night time. Usually my blogs are in the mornings (or whenever lol)  but I figured I would wait tonight and blog.

So here it is 10:30 pm as I sit here and blog. I been working on my paranormal page (hope to have it finished later tonight) on my website here. I been working on that for awhile, maybe a week or so. I been writing stuff in depth and hope to have that active soon.

We watched the winter Olympics earlier. Pretty cool stuff. I still do not understand curling, lol. But we watched the lug, snowboarding, figure  skating, etc… I was hoping the USA would be doing better. I think the judges are biased, because the whole USA/N Korea situation. But hey that is just my thoughts lol.

I am binge watching one of my favorite shows as I write this. The Walking Dead!  They have been playing it alot!  I am super excited!  Sure does bring back memories. I actually forgot some the scenes, so I am glad they are replaying them.  Good to watch them and remind me of what happened over the years. Yes, I am a huge Walking Dead fan, but I did forget some stuff. I think they should go back to their roots and focus alot of the walkers, not so much of the living.

One month and nine days.  That is my dad’s birthday and also the first day of spring.  Bittersweet.  I miss my dad ALOT!  Is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him. I think about him all the time.  I would give anything, to see or hear him one last time. I was hoping that he would become a ghost and I would see him. But that has not happened yet. Maybe that is a good thing, and he crossed over. I sure do miss my dad ALOT!

Good afternoon everyone!

It is looking like via the forecast models that Thursday Night and Friday we are going to have the biggest snowfall yet of the season.  On the low end (as in the lowest possible) it appears to be around 5 inches.  On the high end it will be 13.5 inches.  So in all probability we will get somewhere in the middle.

The system has shifted to the North more, which means that we will be getting more snowfall than originally expected. We currently do have a Winter Storm Watch out for us. They said 6-9 inches. I think they are sitting on that 13.5 forecast right now and not making that public.

We all know it is Mother Nature, and she will do what she wants. And I think they are sitting on that forecast right now, because that sure is a lot of snow and they probably don’t want the public to panic.  But the latest models are showing an increase in snowfall amounts since the system has now shifted.

I would suggest everyone to start preparing for a lot of snow. And possibly being stuck home a day or two.  Go get extra food, water, salt, shovels, gas, etc…  The typical stuff.  Make sure your snowblowers are running.

Enough about the snow for now, I am sure I will be posting photos and videos of the event in the next few days

Guess what day it is?  It is X-Files tonight!   So heads up, do not bother me from 7-8 PM tonight, lol.  I turn off all my gadgets and don’t answer the phone or doors while the X-Files is on (also Walking Dead, which will be starting up soon too)   So kick back and watch the X-Files tonight 🙂

I have been updating my website here in the last few days. I been updating the pages. And messing around with stuff. I am going to be adding new fonts probably later on tonight or tomm.   I like to have a blog that has color and spice to it. Instead of the plain fonts. Yes, it is easier to read with it being plain. But I hate being plain, I like to be unique.  🙂  So be on the lookout for the new font styles in the near future!

Rickie Traeger Blog: Amateur Radio & Storm Spotting 2, Just Finished Reading And My Personal Review on It

I just got done reading a book called Amateur Radio and Storm Spotting 2.

Check it out at ~ CLICK HERE

Figured I would write a quick review on it.   I would rate it a 3 star, out of 5.

Before buying the book, I was reading the reviews from people online.  So I had a lot of expectations going into it.  Based on the reviews.

I use a Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, as my reader. Very good Kindle!

The Bad: When I hit the 64% mark, the main book ended!  I was like WTF!!!  The rest was appendix!  This is my main reason for the 3 star rating.  I was expecting it to be a lot longer than it was.  The appendix area was alot. I personally feel that the main book itself should have been longer.  Based on the reviews and what I was reading from other readers, it was a long book. Well, I flew through this book pretty quickly.  Literally.

Also, the information was so-so.  I am a trained storm spotter for many years now, so I guess I should toss this information out there. So I knew everything that was in the book already pretty much.  So it was easy for me to read through and understand.

If you are just starting out, it is a good book and might be a little too much to take in at times. But there are several areas that do provide some good education to learn from.  It gives you the basic outlines on the in’s and out’s.

To be honest, you could probably learn more from a simple google search.  But I still do recommend people buying this, to help support the authors.

The Good:  There were some areas that I did learn some stuff.  Even though I know alot, I did learn some new stuff.  I do like how they posted the links to the sources and in the appendix gave you a tutorial on how to do live maps.  I been wanting to learn how to do the live maps, but never really took the time to learn yet. So this book did spark that interest once again.  I did enjoy how one of the authors is kinda local, out of the Woodstock area. 2 Counties over.  That was another cool thing I did enjoy about it.  I also liked how they provided some examples of the AAR (After-Action-Report) and also their personal experiences.  So it kinda made it a little more personal while reading the book.

Overall:  I do recommend people buying the book to support the authors.  I had a high expectation going in to read the book based on other reviews.  So I wanted to be open and honest on my review, without doing spoilers.  The book is shorter than I expected. But at times, it had some good knowledge. If you already know alot about weather, then you might want to pass on this.  If you are just starting out or wanting to start your own Skywarn group, then buy this.  They do provide some good links and examples in the book.  And I like how they did positive re-enforcement in the book as well.  They are right, no situation will ever be identical. You will always be learning. If you say you know “everything”  then you are lying.  Because even though you may know alot, you will never know everything.  So, there is always room for improvements and training.  I do like how they pointed this out, because it is true!

Rickie Traeger Blog: Shout Outs, Winter Mix Thursday Evening, Misc Blog. . .

I thought I would make a quick blog since I was sitting here.  Just wanted to give everyone who reads my blog a shout out!  Send me an email, I will personally give you a shout out if you like 😉

I was watching Josh Gates earlier tonight. That man has an awesome job!  He has seen and did a lot with his show. I am liking that show more and more these days.   I do like how they don’t lie and say they found something, when they didn’t.   I think that alone has made me gain a lot of respect for the show.

As of right now, the conditions are uncertain. It is 2:30 am. But the weatherman is forecasting some winter weather precipitation mix around the evening commute.  I been watching the models, and each time I look at them the chances are slimmer and slimmer, and what we do get will start approx. 6 pm.  Either way, I wanted to give everyone a heads up on your evening commute. It might be a little slippery.  If so, drive slow and allow extra time. Be sure to keep your distance from the vehicle in front of you. You know the common sense stuff, that people seem to forget about these days.

Be sure to watch the weather and have a fully charged cell phone with you, if you plan on traveling Thursday night.  Be safe everyone!

Enjoy your Thursday!

A period of mixed precipitation is expected from Thursday
afternoon into Thursday night, mainly north of I-88. Amounts are
not expected to be more than a few hundredths but some areas could
see patchy light accumulations of ice. Less than an inch of snow
is also possible Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, mainly
north of I-90. There is another chance of snow on Sunday, along
with the arrival of much colder air for next week. Highs in the
teens are expected Monday and Tuesday, with subzero wind chills.

Rickie Traeger Blog: I Get Asked A Lot, “Do I Believe In Aliens”, My Thoughts On The Topic

I was asked earlier on my thoughts of Alien life.  I get asked this a lot. So I thought I would make a quick blog about it, so when I am asked I can send everyone to the website to read it.

First off, I want to explain “UFO”  UFO means Unidentified Flying Object.  That does not mean there are aliens on the object. That just means there is an object in the sky that can not be identified.  Plain and simple.  I think many people think of aliens, when they hear the word UFO.  But in reality, it just means there is an object in the sky that can not yet be identified.

As for Aliens:  We are just a mere spec in an enormous universe.  I mean a tiny tiny spec in this vast universe! See that photo below! That will give you an aspect of how enormous our universe is!

I believe if we are alive and well here on Earth, then it is plausible that there might be other life forms out there as well.  Like I said, we are just a mere speck  in this vast universe. So, why is there not the possibility of other life forms out there as well?

The one thing that bothers me is, scientist and others believe the other life forms have to have the same environment as us here on Earth.  So they go looking for Earth like planets, for other life forms. I think that is wrong on many levels. Yes, it is good if we want to go explore other planets and all. But what makes you think other life forms have to have our environment?

I believe other life forms are possible and they do not need our same environment to live in.  I think the aliens are out there and also they might be closer to us than we think. I think that they may live in different environments as us (Hence it is space) and they don’t necessarily need Earth environments to live in.

As for visiting us, I think it is possible.   I researched and read some very good books on the Roswell incident. I think that incident alone, was true.   I think we have been visited by other life forms.  Watching the videos of Boyd Bushman (https://youtu.be/xPt6LU1ZKk8) I think he was legit. It has been proven who he is, what he has done, etc… and with his deathbed confession video, I think is legit.  I will embed the video below, be sure to watch it all! Make up your mind.

Recently NASA said there was 7 Earth like planets that was 68 light years away. The same distance Boyd Bushman said the aliens were from. That is in the area of Trappist-1.  That is located in the Aquarius constellation.  They even reported that the outer planets might have water on them as well.

I do think the government these days and also citizens, make a lot of stuff up now and tries to make it appear that people who believe in this topic, are crazy. Even though they are not. People do not choose to see this stuff. They just happen to be in the right spot at the right time. Or some may think of it as the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, many don’t want to see strange objects in the skies above us.

Overall, I do think people take the term UFO in a wrong sense.  They automatically assume it is “Aliens” which is wrong. I do believe that it is very possible that other life forms in the universe is very possible. I do think we might be going about searching for them, the wrong way.

I might update this, with a more in depth blog on this topic at a later date.

Rickie Traeger Blog: President Trump Sending Us Back To The Moon, Trailer Park Boys, Tattoo, Vacation, Etc….

I just straight up binged watched The Trailer Park Boys, LOL.   Oh man I love that show.   I won’t say much because I don’t want to spoil it for others. But if you have not watched The Trailer Park Boys, yet. You are missing out!

We finally got snow that stuck around for awhile now.  I was going to try building a snowman, but the snow is not packing. Guess we will have to wait until another snowfall to do it.  The temps really dropped. Talk about cold, brrrr.  Yes, I can hear you know saying we live in the Midwest and we are supposed to be used to it.  You may be used to it, but I am not. I like my warm weather 🙂

Awhile back ago, I got a tattoo. Yes, I have many. But the one on my right arm is not finished. The guy who was supposed to finish it, never did.  So now I am going to go on the hunt to see if someone will finish it.  If you know of a good tattoo artist, let me know.   I like BEAR, but I have no idea where he is these days.  If you know someone who is a tattoo artist, that does sleeves, let me know.

I been looking online for places to go for a vacation.  I so need one.  It be nice to get outta dodge for awhile and kick back and relax and not work all the time.  I didn’t sleep for awhile cuz I was working alot.  I ended up getting 4 hours in last night, so I am kinda good to go for awhile today.

Places I want to go to a vacation at. You might laugh at a few, but I am serious when I say these 😛    Roswell, the #1 place for UFO’s,  not real UFO’s just the history.  I think that be a badazz place to visit. Because I am into the paranormal and it be cool to check out.   I am almost finished reading Witness To Roswell.  An awesome and informative book!   The other place I want to go to is a warm beach.  OMG what I would give right now to be on a warm beach!!!

I am watching a thing about Voyager.  Pretty interesting to see what it has done and saw. So advanced for its age.  Speaking of, I love the NASA website.  Many cool photos and videos on there.  I like watching the NASA TV and the launches.

OH GREAT NEWS,  President Trump told NASA to go back to the moon!  It will be a few years, but man o man that is going to be an awesome day when that happens again!  They said 2022 it will happen, so its a few years away.  But heck, I am sooooooo looking forward to that day!   I am super excited he is focused on the space program again!

I am not to political on here, but I am liking President Trump a lot!  I think he has done a lot of great things since he was taken office. I think he does it his way and that is making America great again.  Yes, there is stuff I do not agree on, but realistically he is doing a lot of great things for us Americans. Especially with all the BS he goes through daily.  Our economy has bounced back, stocks rose, public relations have risen, etc…  He does it his way and that is straight forward and not the “normal rules”  And that is what America needed.

Some Rockford Scanner news: I want to personally tell everyone who sent in their snow photos and videos, Thank You!  I am going through them all here shortly and will have them posted later on today.  Many great photos!  Keep up the great work!

Also, Sad to see people out there robbing others! As you know I hate liars and thieves!  I hope one day they try that crap on me.  Hard working people earning there stuff, probably living paycheck to paycheck are robbed by low life scums trying to get something for free.  Yesterday someone knocked on a door, then beat and tied them up and robbed them on Charles st, then later on a good Samaritan gave someone a ride that ended up being a setup  for a robbery.  I do now wish ill on anyone, but I sure hope I work the story of good guy wins!

Todays National Holidays:

December 12

  • National Ambrosia Day
  • National Ding-a-Ling Day
  • Gingerbread House Day
  • Poinsettia Day
  • Chanukah Begins – Changes Annually

I will end this by posting this historic photo of President Trump signing the thing for NASA to send us back to the moon 🙂

Representatives of Congress and the National Space Council joined President Donald J. Trump, Apollo astronaut Jack Schmitt and current NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, for the president’s signing of Space Policy Directive 1, a change in national space policy that provides for a U.S.-led, integrated program with private sector partners for a human return to the Moon, followed by missions to Mars and beyond.
