For years, officials have denied this…
I often find myself asking this one question: WHY?
WHY, do officials deny any mountain lions and other large wildlife sightings in our area?
What is their purpose for denying it and lying about it?
Any type of larger wildlife that is in our area.
Officials have denied it.
And have played it off as delusions and things that did not seem to be as they appear.
Basically, discrediting the witnesses.
I have ran RS for 15 years.
And I can not tell you how many reports I get annually on larger wildlife in our area.
And I have also personally witnessed 2 bears and a mountain lion.
Witnesses would always tell me that officials are trying hard to deny their sightings.
But these witnesses were pretty confident on what they all witnessed.
It was a common thing I kept hearing.
I guess I never really understood things.
Until… I had my first sighting.
I witnessed a mountain lion hunting 2 large deer in a field near Perryville.
I called the number you are supposed to call to report the sighting.
It did not take long for then to respond to me.
I explained my encounter and sent them the video.
They were nice and acted pretty sympathetic.
So, I figured with the evidence and my testimony.
There was no way in hell, they can deny it.
All these people told me…
Yup, they called me back and said “Nope, that is not what you saw. But this is what you saw…”
Wow… I was just floored on the flat out lies I was being told.
I knew what I saw, I knew what I recorded. Clear as day…
And yet, they were trying to discredit me.
Well, all these witnesses said the same thing.
And now I was experiencing it first hand.
Long story short, this happened to me a total of 3 different times.
2 of the 3 sightings I had clear video evidence. The 3rd was recorded, but poor quality.
People ask why do I post wildlife stuff on RS?
It is simple. I have experienced it first hand.
Officials denying and trying to discredit these witnesses.
I have no idea, as to why…
But I do know, it is ongoing and I experienced it 3 times.
These witnesses deserve their voices to be heard.
And we are more than happy to provide that microphone.
Doing RS, and working a few wildlife scenes.
I learned a few things.
The Winnebago County Animal Control are the ones who have control over a wildlife scene.
Then the Illinois DNR takes over. But those first responding, are police and animal control.
And whoever else may be needed. I have saw an ambulance staged while there was a bear loose near N Main a few years back.
No injuries were reported. So, I think it may have been a precautionary thing.
I don know one thing. I enjoy Mother Nature and seeing any kind of wildlife.
I cherish and am thankful for. Many people do not realize how much we take for granted.
One thing I remember well about that incident.
There were actually 2 bears. However, they only told the public there was 1.
The 1 bear crossed over N Main and that was the one they followed and told the community about.
They never mentioned the 2nd one, that remained in the large field, West of N Main.
I think that was my first real eye opener on things.
To be fair: I don’t remember exactly when I saw the 2nd bear.
If it was before or after filming. But I do know there was a 2nd bear.
I guess the reason why I am writing this.
Is to voice my opinion on this.
I personally feel the community should know about a large bear coming through our area.
That way people know to AVOID the area, instead of becoming a potential meal…
I have been told there have been a few people injured and 1 allegedly killed.
However, the officials have said there have been no injuries or deaths.
So, it boils down too… Who do you believe?
That is sad, because we should TRUST our leaders and TRUST that they would tell us the truth.
It goes back too… WHY???
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LYING ABOUT THIS???

And an anonymous source reached out to me.
So, I guess in a way I am hoping the same thing will happen again…
Our community deserves a voice.
Our community members are witnessing these large beautiful animals.
And when they try to report it. They are being discredited…
For what, seeing a large beautiful animal???
What really is goin going on here?
