I was sitting here thinking about how lucky we have been to dodge some major storm systems over the last few days. Mother Nature was using my environment to feed to storm systems around me.  It was pretty neat to watch the storms form nearby, then quickly evolve into supercells.

I went out storm spotting the other day.   I have always saw photos and videos online.
Of the backhalf of a shelf cloud.  Well, when I was out spotting.  I was able to see it in person.

I was watching the storm roll in.  I had picked out a good spot on the western part of the county.
To sit and watch the storm system roll in.  I will say, it had an impressive shelf cloud to it.

It ended up being a derecho.

When the shelf cloud passed over my head and the winds picked up and the rain just began.

I was able to see the back half of the shelf cloud, briefly.   Maybe 15-20 seconds.

Then the heavy rain came in and I wasn’t able to see it anymore.

That was the first time I have saw that in person.
Really gave me a perspective on the winds of that storm.

It did not produce anything where I was.
However, it allegedly produced some small tornadoes around me.

I missed all the action.  But I am not complaining.
I was able to see the back half of the shelf cloud.
Saw some pretty intense lightning strikes.
And was able to enjoy a spring time thunderstorm!
